  • 1 salmon filet
  • 2 tbsp Big Green Egg Citrus & Herb Seasoning or seasoning of your choice
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 blood orange or other citrus fruit, cut into rounds
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley for garnish

1 Cedar Grilling Plank

Set the EGG for direct cooking without a convEGGtor at 400°F/204°C.

Soak the plank in water for at least 30 minutes. Cover the salmon in the seasoning, lemon zest and brown sugar; arrange the orange slices on top. Remove the plank from the water and place salmon onto plank then directly onto the cooking grid; close the EGG and cook for 15 minutes or until salmon reaches an internal temperature of 125°F for medium. Remove from the EGG and sprinkle fresh parsley to garnish.

  1. I’ve made planked salmon many times prior to getting my BGE. Never has it tasted like this. Got my BGE yesterday, have thus far made three complete meals:

BBQ chicken, grilled cauliflower, grilled baby potatoes, grilled artichoke – all received rave reviews.
Full English (vegetarian): all grilled eggplant with tomato and goat cheese, baguette, asparagus, Portobello mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans (yes, on the BGE), Halloumi cheese, potatoes
Planked salmon, asparagus, green onions. The salmon was simpler, cedar plank below, lemon slices on top.

    1. ah, Full English, yes, I also cooked eggs over easy on my BGE.

When I say never tasted like this I mean I’ve died and gone to heaven. Best Salmon ever.
