Ingredients

  • 1½ pounds sweet dark red cherries; stems removed and pitted (If you can’t find fresh cherries you can use frozen)
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 strips of orange peel
  • 1 cup bourbon

Instructions

Set aside four 8 oz. mason jars.

Set the EGG for direct cooking at 350°F/177°C.

In a Stir-Fry & Paella Pan, whisk together the water, honey, vanilla extract and nutmeg. Gently stir in the cinnamon sticks and orange peel. Add in the cherries.

Add to the EGG and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture begins to simmer. Close the top and bottom vents, and continue to cook for another 10 minutes for the flavors to meld. Remove from the EGG, strain out the cinnamon stick and orange peel; put one cinnamon stick and orange peel into each jar. Slowly add in the bourbon, and stir to combine.

Divide the mixture evenly into the jars, allow the mixture cool completely to room temperature. Put the lids on the mason jars, turn upside down and refrigerate for at least 3 days before using. The cherries should last for up to 2-3 months if refrigerated.

  1. I have made maraschino cherries for my cocktails that are great but these are the next level better. Forget putting on ice cream (okay maybe) put in your Old Fashioneds
