How to Clean Your Egg

How to Clean Your Egg

A Little Spring Cleaning

Your Big Green Egg doesn’t need a deep clean very often, but when it does, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy it is. To keep your Egg looking pristine, we recommend purchasing a cover and following these tips.

Burn It Off

Got some stubborn, caked-on debris hanging around? Fire up your Egg like usual and crank up the heat to 600˚F. Let it burn for about 15-20 minutes, and watch as it cleans itself like a self-cleaning oven.

For Stubborn Debris

If you still spot some leftover bits on your cooking surfaces after the carbon clean, grab a Dual-Brush Scrubber for a little extra elbow grease. It’ll make short work of that stubborn stuff!

Spruce Up Your Egg’s Ceramics

For a sparkling exterior, simply use a soft, non-abrasive cloth with ourcleaner. It’ll wipe away dirt without breaking a sweat! Just steer clear of bleaches, detergents, or anything abrasive, as they can tarnish your Egg’s beautiful finish.

Prepping Before You Cook

A clean Egg means better airflow and more consistent temperature control, especially when you’re going low and slow. To clear out any leftover ash from your last cook, just lift the dome and give those coals a good rake. The ash will tumble down through the Fire Grate. Then, open the Draft Door and use your Ash Tool to scoop the ash out into an Ash Pan and discard.
