Pimento Cheeseburgers

Smoking Egg

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup pimento cheese
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 slices of red onion

Instructions

Serves: 4

Method: Direct grilling

  1. Set the EGG for direct cooking at 400°F/204°C.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties. Season both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  3. Place the patties on the EGG and grill for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach the desired level of doneness.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with 1/4 cup of pimento cheese and close the lid to melt the cheese.
  5. Remove the patties from the EGG and let them rest for a few minutes.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns on the EGG for about 1 minute, until lightly browned.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a tomato slice, a burger patty, and a slice of red onion. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
