Lead User Experience (UX) Researcher

Description
This role will manage an important multifaceted user feedback loop to keep our product team informed and on track creating premium products that align with user needs. This role will manage tools to gather user feedback and sentiment from open online forums, our own CRM databases, and hard-core egghead loyalists. This role will also continually assess the competitive landscape to keep the product team aware of movements in the competitive landscape and follow how users are responding to competitive products. All this information will need to be organized and presented clearly as it will play an important role in determining our product strategy. During the product development process the Lead User Researcher will be responsible for designing, organizing, recruiting, and executing qualitative and quantitative user testing. Summative research to validate we have met or exceeded performance and safety metrics with users will also fall under the responsibility of this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead Research Strategy: Develop and implement UX research strategies that align with business goals, ensuring a deep understanding of our users.
- Research Execution: Plan, recruit, conduct, and analyze a variety of research methods, including usability testing, interviews, surveys, field studies, and other qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure research insights are integrated into product design and development processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement, Presentation and Communication: Present and communicate research findings and recommendations to executives and internal stakeholders, facilitating data-driven decisions at all levels of the organization.
- Advocate for the User: Champion the user’s voice within the company, ensuring user experience is prioritized throughout the product lifecycle.
- Synthesize Insights: Translate research data into actionable insights, personas, journey maps, and wireframes to inform product design.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on UX research best practices, trends, and tools, and introduce innovative research methods and techniques.
- Competitive Analysis and Industry Insights: Ability to gather, understand and communicate competitive landscape, and help leadership set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and decisions for the company’s future.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in UX research, with at least 2 years in a lead or managerial role.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.

- Expertise in a wide range of research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative).
- Proven ability to lead and mentor research teams.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Excellent customer rapport, communication and presentation skills.
- Experience collaborating with design, product, and engineering teams..
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset.
- Proficiency in budget management and financial analysis.
- Passion for cooking and outdoor grilling (preferred).
- Tools: Proficiency with research and usability testing tools such as UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, Lookback, etc.
- Mindset/Soft Skills: Passionate about improving user experiences, with a user-centered design thinking approach. Cooking/grilling knowledge, experience and desire to learn a must.
Physical Work Requirements
Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
