Countdown to the Cookout

Got questions? We've got answers.

What is EGGtoberfest?

EGGtoberfest is an annual event held in Atlanta each October. The fest originated in 1998 as a way for Big Green Egg to say “Thank You” to loyal customers and provide a location for our Forum users to gather and cook their favorite recipes together on the Egg.

Spectacular fare can range from roasted whole fresh Alaskan salmon (caught, brought, and cooked by an Alaska Egg owner) to Moose kabobs from Maine to exotic breakfast dishes, peach cobblers, grilled pineapple, rum-soaked apple cake, smoked turkey necks, barbecued meatloaf. Experience the most flavorful versions possible of more traditional items like pulled pork, fallin’-off-the-bone ribs, spicy sausages, juicy beef brisket, and crispy pizza for those less daring.

This festive annual family-oriented event also provides a kid’s zone area where little ones can run around and enjoy the day. For anyone who has been thinking about buying an Egg, not only do they get to see firsthand the versatility of the intriguing ceramic cooker, but the Eggs that are cooked on are sold afterward.

About 100 Big Green Egg pioneers attended the cookout the first year, with 15 cooks firing up an Egg. Since then, the Annual EGGtoberfest has grown into a fun-filled festival where over 3000 new and experienced EGGheads come together each year to share food and learn tips and tricks from some of the most talented Egg cooks in the world.

The tremendous enthusiasm generated by EGGtoberfest has resulted in a growing number of regional EGGfests. Check the EGGfest tab to see if one is taking place near you.
